Congrats to CUCU!

The CUCU Ukulele Orchestra played their first pieces on the Collaborate Through Music concert last night at Groth Recital Hall at Eastern Oregon University. Players were  (in no particular order) Maddy Johnson, Kent Anderson, Becky Bechtel, Annette Willliams. Kelly McAlister, Karen Antell, Katie Schraan, April Curtis, Sam Bond, William Bond, and Barbara West. We lost a few to illness and change in term schedules.

SO SAD TO LOSE DAVID OPPERMAN

David Opperman was the cooperating teacher in Union High School who guided several of our instrumental and vocal students teachers. He was always cheerful, inspirational, and loved his kids. I am so sad that a light of the world is no longer shining but in our hearts.

New arranger in town

No, he is not new to town but new to arranging for ukulele. ... Matt Cooper! He wrote two carols for me for church over the Christmas break and they are fab. I needed more than one day to practice them but they will be ready for next year. I am encouraging him to add to these arrangements and work on some others for CUCU. He is interested but time to do the work is always an issue. Here's hoping he is inspired to move this project ahead of many others on his list!
