Amazing window sticker ----talk about angry!

Posted by Sharon Porter on Wednesday, September 22, 2010,
I hope that the big rig parked across the sidewalk in the neighbor's duplex is not a permanent resident. From the look of his rig and his window sticker, this is one uneducated and angry person. First of all it is profane and that profanity is protected as free speech. The anger of it, though, is assaulting. I took exception that liberals are not patriotic. Because I do not drag the flag out and wear it on my lapel and plant it in the yard or on my car does not make me unpatriotic. I have tra...

Wonderful weekend with friends!

Posted by Sharon Porter on Sunday, September 19, 2010, In : Playing Music
We just had a wonderful weekend with friends Deb and Anne, here from Portland with good dog, Sydney. After a leisure lunch at Mamacita's after we played at Saturday Market, we attended the Gala at the Union County Center for Arts and Culture. We got outbid on every item but had fun anyway. The food was fab and I learned how to bid at an auction. Deb and Anne are excellent coaches. Too bad my pockets aren't as deep as some attendees. This morning we had breakfast with our mutual friends, Pat a...

Velotones had a great time at Cycle Oregon!

Posted by Sharon Porter on Monday, September 13, 2010, In : Playing Music
Despite the intense sunshine in the afternoon, the Velotones had a great time in Wallowa, Oregon cheering the troops of cyclists for their lunch stop. We passed 2,000 cyclists through the narrow canyons doing our best to not run head-on with approaching cars as the cyclists often took over the lanes for the cars to use. It was scary business. Luckily, we arrived with barely time to get set up-even though we had left home at 7:30 AM. The site organizer said incredulously, "You need power? Didn...

CU-CU is launched!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Sharon Porter on Saturday, September 4, 2010, In : Playing Music
Fourteen brave souls began our first CU-CU ensemble last night. There are at least three more people who could not make the first meeting. I will work at getting them caught up. I was in an apoplexy of delight! The members were intuitively reading music and we learned C, C7, G, G7, D and F all in one night. They played in rounds and are learning the C scale. I will be writing more about this group but I have such hopes for part-reading now! That will be in October when we start that. I also a...

One of my favorite stories is one where a young boy saves his town with his little ukulele. I love it! Check out this version by Pete Seeger!
