Gutted

November 11, 2016
Drumpf will never be MY president. I am gutted over losing the electoral college when the popular vote represented some sanity. There is some comfort that the REPS have it all now and it is on them to bring america to her knees. Meanwhile, I am researching living in Ecuador or Costa Rica. This country is a redneck cesspool.

Readying for holiday ventures

November 13, 2015
Having a great time getting ready for holiday dances, volunteer playing at care and retirement residences, and playing at jams in the nearby towns. I have been less interested in booking bands that I "front." It is more fun to play instruments than stand up there and just sing. Porter and the Pale Ales is different because I get to play and sing in that one. I remember the days of standing there is some sexy dress and crooning away happily. Those days are past and I have many memories of all ...

Blue Plate Special played for Cycle Oregon

September 20, 2015
I walk my dogs daily at Pioneer Park but I did not recognize the place with all the "city" of Cycle Oregon moved in! What an operation. It is astounding at the support activities that help these cyclists recreate. We played for our set on Friday and then the Fiddle Club from Central School joined us and we accompanied them. Nothing cuter than dogs and kids! They played so well! Kudos to Carla Arnold for her hard work in making them our future players!

I had to jump in the car, change instrumen...

Wow. . .did I have fun jamming with at least three dulcimer groups at the Maryhill Museum yesterday in the magnificentColumbia Gorge area. It is a lovely museum and we played in the rotunda of the Native American exhibit. I learned many new tunes and met some awesome people! Some were friends from the Dulcimer Week in t he Wallowas band camp. . . others are now new friends! The power of music to build community!

MINI is back!

March 15, 2012
My MINI Cooper is back home. Her real name is Pepper. It seems that a very sophisticated sensor went awry telling Pepper that it was 90 degrees outside and the gasoline was mixing wrong for the 35 degrees it really was. All is better. Drove Pepper home form Portland and got to see a full moon reflected in the Columbia River. That made all the inconvenience worth it...and I got a free MINI T-shirt for my trouble to boot!

The Ukulele Entertainer (book) by Ralph Shaw

March 15, 2012
Even though I subscribe to Ralph Shaw's blog, he has the most interesting and useful articles put into a newly-published book called The Ukulele Entertainer. I have been reading the chapters here and there. I have found that they are the sweetest pieces to read before sleeping. I go to sleep thinking 'The world is all right. Ralph is playing somewhere!" Zzzzzzz.

Exciting weekend at Hood River Ukefest 2012

March 5, 2012
Learned so much my brain in fried....that's why I am still up at 2 AM! Slide uke, claw hammer, writing songs, strum styles...whew! I have to get organized with my practice schedule.

With all that, my Mini Cooper died in the parking lot outside the Middle School and had to be towed to Portland. Lucky me, the tow truck driver, Bob, gave me a lift to my hotel and a salvage company rented me a car to get home to La Grande. No car rental place would be open until Monday. So, I drove home in a Toyo...

Am I the first?....

May 22, 2011
I may be the first person to play a ukulele on Owsley-Hogsback! We hiked up, had a simple lunch, sang some tunes, and saw a sow bear and her cub. Very fun hike!
